About Me

My photo
My second child and our first daughter, Camille, died and was born on June, 30 2011 when I was full term at 38 weeks pregnant. I gave birth to my rainbow baby, a second daughter, on August 31, 2012. This is me trying to figure out how to be a mother to my living son and daughter and function in society after our tragic loss.

Dead People

My son has said some incredibly intuitive and lovely things that I never thought would come from a 2.5/3 year old. The other evening he stated that when people die they are still here with us. I anticipated something profound from him like the previous statements such as "they are in our peaceful place" or "they will always be in our hearts" but no, he says: "when people die they are still here with us, we put them in tiny boxes and put them on our shelves, like our dog and Camille"

Well that just kinda makes me laugh...

  1. A love to hear things from a kids perspective - they say it so straight up.

The other day we went to the cemetery and told my nephew we were going to visit Amelia, as we arrived my nephew asked if this was heaven.

    1. Di- ha the cemetery heaven! That is funny

  2. Three three yr olds are hysterical!! I love it!

  3. What a cutie! I love to hear the way they process things and how they think things "really" are.

  4. Oh my goodness. :) I wish adults could speak their minds like kids do.

  5. Me too, thanks for the smiles.

  6. lol! I love it. Sometimes their bluntness and way of thinking is such a funny and comforting thing. :)

  7. Little ones are funny! My 16 year-old's story is that Nathaniel is really an A-list player who agreed to do a cameo in this crappy B movie life. Now he's off to better things.

  8. Kids say the most amazing things... and bring light back to the hard things xoxo

PS. I've gone public again... so hopefully will be easier :) xo

  9. I am a preschool teacher, and one of the best things I heard after my son was stillborn last April was from one of my three year olds: "Why did the baby die? And what does Guinea Pig poop look like?" Ahh, the important questions, death and poop.

  10. Oh, sweet boy! I love that. Because it's true, you know? To them that's what it is. Give him a little squeeze for me for thinking of that :)

  11. Apparently when I was little, and my Granny died, my Dad was telling me that her soul had gone to heaven. I replied - "But which sole? From her slippers or her shoes?"

I would love to hear what is on your mind
